Chocolate Chip Cookies

They're like the standard cookies. Also, everyone likes them. Like every cookies, they are ridiculously easy to make and the process takes from 1 to 2 hours only so it's good for anyone who doesn't want to spend whole afternoon baking something complex. I had some spare chopped almonds (they sell pre-chopped almonds here in Spain, so weird) so I added them in and they blended very well with the bitter-ish taste of chocolate for cooking I chopped roughly (each small square into 4 pieces) instead of buying chocolate chips. They don't sell them in Spain anyway, I think.

So yeah, this recipe yields about 25 cookies, depends on how big you make them (I make them large)

they may seem small
Chocolate Chip Cookies
you will need:
  • 225 g butter, softened
  • 200 g white sugar
  • 220 g packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 375 g all-purpose flour
  • a teaspoon of baking soda
  • 10 ml hot water
  • a pinch of salt
  • 300 g of chocolate for cooking (the bitter kind)
  • 115 g of rather finely chopped almonds
but they'll grow
  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees C.
  2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Then beat in the eggs one at a time. Heat up the water and dissolve the baking soda in it. Add it to batter along with salt. After that, stir in flour, the roughly chopped chocolate bits, and almonds.
  3. Put about a spoonful of the batter on a pan with a baking sheet on. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
